KATHARINE G. ATKINSON, Kate for short, is an attorney-mediator and the managing member of Atkinson Law.  Although she has practiced as a litigator in family disputes for a decade, Kate established Atkinson Law in May of 2017 so that she could devote her entire practice to assisting couples in finding constructive resolutions for all issues pertaining to separation and divorce.  She is certified in collaborative divorce by the Connecticut Council for Non-Adversarial Divorce and has received recognition as a Connecticut Super Lawyer Rising Star in the area of Family Law for past five consecutive years, since 2013.

Kate lives with her husband, Matt, and two young children in Kensington. Connecticut.  She was born in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1979 and was admitted to the Bar of the State of Connecticut in 2006. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Quinnipiac University in 2003.  Ms. Atkinson graduated magna cum laude from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2006 where she earned two Distinguished Academic Achievement awards in the areas Evidence and Environmental Law.  She also served as Associate Editor of the Quinnipiac Probate Law Journal.

Kate’s practice includes collaborative divorce and private family mediation services including divorce, legal separation, custody and other family related issues.  Attorney Atkinson’s extensive experience in family litigation and motion practice has earned her an understanding the rights and obligations of parties with respect to alimony, child support, pension division, valuation of assets, real estate and the range of other complex issues that may arise in any family case.
